Travel Blood Pressure Monitor$159.99 on Vitagoods
Having been a Career Paramedic for 23+ years, I have always had the knowledge and power to take blood pressure readings manually. I have to admit going through life I never depended much on the machine versions of them, unless I was working in the emergency room at the Hospital where they were standard. I was given a chance to review the Vitagoods Blood Pressure Monitor, and I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions.
At home, or while you are traveling leaves you with different issues however. A device like this can be beneficial to your home, or while you travel to keep constant watch of your blood pressure, to insure it stays in the range you and your doctor discuss.
• Lightweight cuff and monitor for ease-of-use
• LCD screen displays measurements
• Systolic blood pressure results
• Diastolic blood pressure results
• Pulse rate results
• User 1 and User 2 option
• Pressurized wrist cuff auto-inflation and deflation
• Automatic pressure release valve system
• Bluetooth-enabled and compatible with any iOS/Android device
• Provides in-depth health data and tracking
• Irregular Heartbeat (IHB) Detector
So through my testing I found that it was easy to use. I downloaded the free VitaSigns app from the Google Play Store, and within minutes I had my blood pressure monitor and my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone paired, and it was recording my results for me and keeping them stored. It is designed to work with up to 2 users, so keeping track of a significant other can be done as well.
I also liked how easy it was to apply. Easy enough to do without help, just slide it on your wrist and tighten the Velcro Strap. With clear LCD numbers, easy to press buttons, this would be perfect for anyone who would like some peace of mind of their results, til their next visit with their physician. In addition to using the app, the unit itself can store results from previous readings that you can share with your health care professional.
Taking it with you is easy. It comes with a nice plastic closing case that would easily fit in your carry-on, luggage, or a large purse. This particular model comes is Black or White, I chose black for the purpose of this review.
Overall impression? Great for the person who needs to monitor their blood pressure at nominal times due to new medication changes, new medical conditions, or at advice of a physician. One caveat to remember is that no home device is exactly perfect when reading vital signs. If you feel it is not reading correctly, or that you have symptoms that are causing you worry, please consult your personal physician or an emergency room to determine if you are okay. For regular daily use this is perfect for those situations. ~Tom
